- Live Music
If you’re in the mood for jazz music, then head to one of the most well-known nightlife spots in Chiang Mai – a small, rustic jazz bar located at the north gate of the old city. This intimate venue gets very busy on weekends around 9 pm, with the crowd spilling out onto the street. Upstairs, you can watch the band from a higher perspective.
The prices for drinks are fairly reasonable, with small bottles of beer starting at around 85 baht and cocktails starting at around 150 baht. This is a great place to experience the vibrant jazz scene in Chiang Mai and enjoy a lively atmosphere with friends.

11 months agoI’ve been here a couple of times over the past few years. It’s a chill dive bar with live jazz and other types of music. Sometimes the band plays more pop-style music or more atmospheric, layered stuff, but they also play a fair amount of jazz standards and have fun soloing. The alcohol prices have come down in recent years, with everything being under 200 baht now. They have a second floor where you can watch the band from above.

a year agoDang, North Gate Jazz is the place to be! House band with no cover, great music that changes nightly, and plenty of local talent that swings through regularly. Drinks are cold and plentiful. Lots of space for sitting, ground floor and second floor sitting area. Come early and pick up the best seats in the house.

2 months agoWhen people say get here early, they mean it. I got here at 7:45 for an 8:30 set and the place was already packed! I think I got the last stool left. By 8:30 the crowd was flowing into the streets. The jazz itself was awesome - great band and good variety of artists throughout the night. There’s also a little hidden fourth floor jazz bar as well.

9 months agoOne of the very best music venues in Chiang Mai. Not particularly comfortable seating, but the music is usually of the highest quality with a superb basic house combo. Tuesday is the most popular night with a sort of open-mic setup. The crowd spills out of the venue onto the road, but if you walk through the crowd to the back, there is access to a second floor, often not full. The sound quality and acoustics are really good here. There are now two bars which is a big improvement, and drink prices are average. Highly recommended.

3 months agoWhat a great place to listen to music. The place is quite small so if you don’t show up early you’ll have to stand but the music was great. Really nice jazz and a bit of soul/r&b. We’d definitely come back again. The cocktails were good as well and strong however a bit pricey.
